CAG in the Classroom
Our learning programs are designed to explore the themes and ideas encountered in exhibitions in ways that are accessible and stimulating to students of all abilities, while enjoying creative learning and developing key transferable skills.
Schools
The Contemporary Art Gallery offers engaging arts programs for students from K-12. Led by experienced art educators, participants explore CAG exhibitions through guided observation, facilitated discussion and studio art making. Utilizing inquiry-based learning strategies, students and teachers are encouraged to creatively experiment with visual art materials and processes as well as critically reflect upon the power of contemporary art to engage with diverse themes, perspectives and complex ideas.
Our school programs are designed to meet the core competencies identified in the curriculum of the BC Ministry of Education.
Community, College and University Groups
We offer bespoke guided exhibition tours for university and college classes, ELL groups, and mission-driven community groups. Our tours are participant-centered and inquiry-driven, connecting participant knowledge and experience with new skills for interpreting, conceptualizing and making involved with contemporary art. Tours are suitable for groups with any level of knowledge or experience of visual art.
