B.C. Binning Gallery

In a darkened gallery space, a large sculpture made of white tube light bulbs is hanging from the gallery ceiling. A black trash can, or an umbrella bucket, is placed behind this large sculpture.

In January the sculpture and installation works of Scottish artist Martin Boyce will be featured in the B.C. Binning Gallery. Boyce’s evocative practice interrupts and corrupts ideals about the purity and utopianism of modernism and modernist design. He has re-deployed signature modernist furniture pieces in anti-heroic or idiosyncratic postures. For the Contemporary Art Gallery, Boyce will create a new installation, which is being developed in conjunction with Glasgow’s Tramway Gallery, where Boyce’s work is featured this fall.
