Ian Skedd

Wood Slat Screen

CAG Façade

A number of horizontally arranged wood bars cover one of CAG’s window spaces. The window behind this sculpture is illuminated light green.

Vancouver artist Ian Skedd will exhibit a large sculptural wooden screen that both blocks and filters the light from the Gallery's street front window vitrines. Skedd is also interested in the social effect of design and architecture, and has worked increasingly with the subtle interplay between interior and exterior space. In a recent work, a bar and stools doubled as a sculptural work and rest stop for gallery viewers. Wood Slat Screen inverts and formalizes the effect of a Venetian blind.

The construction of Wood Slat Screen was generously supported by Insulmastic and Grove Cedar Limited.
