Join us for an informal seminar on the gallery floor by T’ai Smith, Associate Professor in the Department of Art History, Visual Art & Theory at UBC, where she will address a history of textiles as objects of material and metaphorical dissection.

Author of Bauhaus Weaving Theory: From Feminine Craft to Mode of Design (2014), Smith’s work looks at questions of mediation in art, design, and political economy. She has published in Art Bulletin, Art Journal, Grey Room, Texte zur Kunst, Zeitschrift für Medien- und Kulturforschung, among other venues. She is currently completing a book manuscript titled Fashion After Capital: Frock Coats and Philosophy From Marx to Duchamp.
