Performance
Composers Scott Gailey and Yu Su will present a quadraphonic installation as an immersive experience of ambient and evolving sonically sculptural gestures and tableaux.
The audience is invited to sit in the centre of four speakers resting at the perimeters of CAG’s B.C. Binning Gallery, as gradual exchanges emitting between them are realized through percussion, field recordings and electronic instruments.
The collaborators’ electro-acoustic practice underscores the environmental disposition of musical experience alongside the contestation of sound as an intrusion into a space or as supplemental to often visually dominant aesthetic instances.
Programmed alongside CAG’s exhibition The Blue Hour, the performance considers the movement inherent within sound as a time based medium and responds to the seeming “stillness” of the works within the exhibition.
