Open Studio
For our second remote Open Studio with Erin Boniferro of Collage Collage, Erin shows us how materials found around the house can be used to make a diorama inspired by Althea Thauberger’s Pagal Pagal Pagal Pagal Filmy Duniya, a film that explores community in and around a cinema house in Karachi, Pakistan.
Watch the video and follow along as Erin creates a three-dimensional diorama of a theatre out of a simple box. She’ll share tips and tricks for using paper, found images and other collage materials to bring your diorama to life.
Gather the materials below at home to get started.
Materials
- card stock or heavy paper
- collage images (magazines, newspaper)
- glue
- additional construction or scrap paper
- box (shoebox works well)
- wooden people
- scissors
- markers, crayon, pencil crayon
- paint (optional)
- sequins, buttons, string, pipe cleaners (optional)
This activity is recommended for artists 5 years and up. Adult supervision is recommended for scissor work!
