CAG Reads
Online via Zoom
We are pleased to announce our latest instalment of CAG Reads, a book club where artists invite us to read alongside them. Each month an artist proposes a text for our collective reading pleasure, culminating in a virtual hangout where the artist leads a wide-ranging discussion grounded in their chosen reading material.
This month, CAG Reads will be hosted by Tristan Unrau. Tristan has selected Canadian writer Rachel Cusk’s most recent novel, Second Place (2021). The novel follows its protagonist’s fixation on the paintings of a mysterious artist, which becomes so consuming she’s led into existential disarray.
Tristan holds an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles and a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design. He was a resident at the Banff Centre in 2013 and was a finalist for the Royal Bank of Canada Painting Competition in 2015 and 2017. He has held recent solo shows at Phil Gallery, Los Angeles and Towards, Toronto. In 2016 Tristan participated in the survey group exhibition Vancouver Special: Ambivalent Pleasures at the Vancouver Art Gallery. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
