We are pleased to announce our latest instalment of CAG Reads, a book club where artists invite us to read alongside them. Each month an artist proposes a text for our collective reading pleasure, culminating in a virtual hangout where the artist leads a wide-ranging discussion grounded in their chosen reading material.

This month, CAG Reads will be hosted by Cole Pauls. Cole has chosen the graphic novel Redbone: The True Story of a Native American Rock Band (2020) by Christian Staebler and Sonia Paoloni, illustrated by Thibault Balahy.

Biography

Cole Pauls is a Champagne & Aishihik Citizen and Tahltan comic artist, illustrator & printmaker hailing from Haines Junction (Yukon Territory) with a BFA in Illustration from Emily Carr University. Residing in Vancouver, Pauls has created 3 graphic novels: Dakwäkãda Warriors (2019), Pizza Punks (2021) and Kwändür (2022). In 2017, Pauls won Broken Pencil Magazine’s Best Comic and Best Zine of the Year Award for Dakwäkãda Warriors II.
